Joseph Maggiacomo III


Joseph Maggiacomo III is an experienced criminal defense and civil attorney who has been successfully representing individuals charged with criminal offenses for nine years.

After receiving his law degree from New England School of Law with an emphasis in criminal law, Attorney Maggiacomo was accepted into the prestigious LLM program in criminal law at the State University of New York at Buffalo where he graduated with honors.

Expertise

As a criminal defense attorney, Attorney Maggiacomo represents individuals charged with criminal offense in District and Superior Court, as well as individuals appealing a criminal conviction in the Massachusetts Court of Appeals and Supreme Judicial Court.

Upon graduating, Attorney Maggiacomo was offered a position as an assistant public defender with the State of Florida. While with the public defender, Attorney Maggiacomo gained invaluable criminal trial experience, as well as the ability to successfully negotiate favorable plea deals for his clients.

Attorney Maggiacomo left the Florida Public Defender upon receiving the prestigious Judy Clark Fellowship at the Center For Capital Litigation, a death penalty center located in Columbia, South Carolina. While at the Center, Attorney Maggiacomo represented clients on death row with reference to their state and federal habeas petitions, appearing before the Military Court Of Appeals and the Fourth Circuit Court Of Appeals.

While at the Center, Attorney Maggiacomo worked and trained with some of the greatest minds in the criminal defense arena including Anthony Amsterdam, who argued and won Furman v. Georgia in which the Supreme Court of the United States ruled on the requirement for a degree of consistency in the application of the death penalty, and John Blume, Cornell Law School Professor and Director of the Cornell Death Penalty project. Attorney Maggiacomo also attended numerous seminars including numerous federal habeas and evidentiary seminars, as well as numerous trial seminars.

Prior to attending law school, Attorney Maggiacomo was a police officer in two major metropolitan cities. While a police officer, Attorney Maggiacomo gained valuable training and experience in the administration of field sobriety tests and investigating violent crimes, all of which benefit those individuals charged with criminal offenses which Attorney Maggiacomo represents
